What's a color run?
The happiest mess
in Vacaville.
A color run is an untimed fun run. No stopwatches, no podiums, no pressure. You start the morning in your fresh white event T-shirt (every participant receives one), and at each color station along the course, volunteers shower you in a cloud of brightly colored powder. By the finish line, you're a walking rainbow.
Choose the 1-mile loop for little legs and stroller crews, or the 5K if your family wants the full adventure. Every pace is welcome, and plenty of participants walk the whole thing.
The Learn Your Colors Run is brought to you by the Kiwanis Club of Vacaville in partnership with the City of Vacaville, with course energy powered by Key Club student volunteers from local high schools.
Wear white, leave rainbow
- White event T-shirt: every participant receives one. It's your canvas, and the color shows up best on white.
- Sunglasses: a fun (and practical) way to keep powder out of your eyes.
- Clothes that can get colorful: most powder washes out, but dress for mess.
- A camera: the after photos are the whole point.

This run benefits Vacaville's littlest learners, so the course works like a preschool lesson you get to run through. Collect every color from start to finish.
Color station lineup is illustrative. The exact station colors and order will be a surprise on event day. Each station can be sponsored by a local business.

Proceeds help fund the city's preschool program, giving Vacaville's youngest residents a colorful head start that includes, fittingly, learning their colors.

Proceeds also support Kiwanis Club of Vacaville youth leadership programs, including the Key Clubs at Buckingham Charter Magnet, Vacaville, Vanden, and Will C. Wood high schools.

Questions, answered
Do I have to run the whole thing?
Nope! This is an untimed fun run. Walk, skip, dance, or stroll. The 1-mile option is perfect for small children, and the 5K welcomes every pace.
Is the color powder safe?
The color powder is cornstarch-based. We still recommend sunglasses for anyone who wants them and keeping mouths closed for the fun part. If you have respiratory sensitivities or other concerns, feel free to reach out to us at vacakiwanis@gmail.com before registering.
What should we wear?
Good news: every participant receives a white event T-shirt, provided with help from our sponsors, and white shows off the color best. Add comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting colorful. Most powder brushes off and washes out, but treat event-day clothes as part of the fun.
How much does it cost?
Children under 6 participate free, and every registered participant receives a white event T-shirt. Current pricing is listed on the City of Vacaville registration page.
Can I bring a stroller?
